Formula Drift Long Beach 2014 and Offset Kings Show Case

I feel like I’ve been covering Formula Drift Long Beach for a while now. Not much has changed, maybe different cars but the same vibe. Seems like every year I get less and less content because I end up having other priorities on my plate. This year it was the first time I was working with a company that had a booth in the vendor aisle.  So my deepest apologies if there isn’t that many photos.  Just kidding, I don’t really care what you think. Enjoy the photos though.

  • Low Problems

    Low Problems

Being low has its problems. People are always saying, “I wouldn’t be able to lower my car like that because of the roads in my area.” The roads are fucked up everywhere, you just learn to adapt to the conditions and remember where the bad roads are. In Vegas though, it’s another story. The roads there are buttery smooth and steep driveways are nonexistent. The only place you have to worry about is the strip and the hotels’ massive speed bumps, probably there for those drunk drivers who like to speed.  This is a lowered car friendly city and that’s why we love to visit so often.

    SEMA 006

One of the lowest cars in Vegas would be Miguel’s Minty Z. Problems he usually has driving in Vegas would be the abnormally large lane reflectors that Vegas has. His side skirts usually become loose at every lane change.

    SEMA 009

Here, we spent the night helping him sticker bomb his front lip, which ended up uglier than we thought it would be. The idea was right, the execution just wasn’t there.

    SEMA 521

We did a little photo shoot with DJ Murdok which I will post later on. Got a cool shot of my IS250 during the shoot.

    SEMA 621

Back in Cali, we had just gotten back from Vegas and thought it would be cool to shoot Shavi’s car and see it leave the garage for once. Surprisingly, it didn’t take much effort to get out of his driveway. The Garage Vary lip can take a beating and it did because Shavi just went straight out of the driveway like it was nothing.

    SEMA 615

If I was an ant, I would be very afraid of seeing Shavi’s car on the road.

    SEMA 630

    Demon Camber.

    SEMA 611

We were very surprised it actually made it down the street to shoot. I’m not even sure how Shavi gets this thing to shows.

    IMG_6375

Is Angelo angling in or is he angling out? He’s actually trying to leave the driveway. If you can make it up a driveway, you can make it out the same way.

    IMG_6379

We wanted to get some Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney so we went cruising around with the Colonel of Stance.

    AngleLOW.

    IMG_6393

We hit an unexpected speed bump on the way there, not a figuratively speaking speed bump, but literally a speed bump. Jimmy’s car was having some battery problems, so when he was trying to get over the bump, his car got stuck and stalled. We kind of caused traffic…

    IMG_6399
Good thing Angelo was there with some jumper cables and wood to get over the speed bump. The Disneyland park security ran up to us and said that parking was free and we didn’t have to wait…right…we were waiting to pay for parking 😉

  • People of Awesome!!!

    People of Awesome!!!

A couple of weeks ago, we met up because it’s been a while since we last saw each other. We decided to kick it with a close group of friends, nicknamed AWESOME PEOPLE! Yeah, that’s right, awesome people. It’s funny how this group on Facebook came about. The group started off with people who were showing with Royal Origin for the 2011 Autocon show. Gradually after the show, our friends started to add people for fun and now we have a huge group of awesome people posting up everything, from drifting to people’s penis. What’s especially cool about the group is that we all share a common hobby, cars. We don’t just drive ordinary cars, but we drive AWESOME ones. The day we all decided to meet up also turned out to be the day that we would do a mini car meet on top of Diamond Jamboree. Fun Fact:  Diamond Jamboree is pretty much the hangout spot for awesome people, so if you want to kick it with us just hit us up at Lollicup. Anyways, the little car meet ended up turning into somewhat of a photo shoot. With so many cool cars, it was hard not to take pictures. So here is what I have for you.

This awesome Miata you see below is Zayan’s. Believe it or not, Zayan claims that this is his raised ride height. Stupid crazy if you ask me!

  • Wekfest LA 2012 Part 2 (Angelo)

Wekfest LA 2012 Part 2 (Angelo)

Wekfest Long Beach was one of the most anticipated car shows that I have been waiting for. One reason was because I was planning to show my car, and another reason was because I  knew it would bring out the best of the best that SoCal has to offer.

I was hoping to have a lot done on my car for Wekfest, but time was not on my side. I was really busy with school, trying to get ready for finals, and work took up all my time on the weekends, so I ended up not changing anything. I did add one big piece of information, and that is my car is for sale. That was the main reason why I wanted to show my car at Wekfest. I wanted to promote it and let everyone know that it’s for sale. But enough about my car and me, and onto the show. Wekfest was spectacular like always. I felt like it was better organized than last year. We did not have to wait a long time to get our cars into the show, and the parking situation was well-planned and organized. The finest cars came out and displayed what they had. I noticed that the VIP style is very popular this year, and is becoming something very main stream. There were also a lot of nice functional cars on display ranging from Subie track cars  to tracked out Civics. The styles of builds were endless.

    On to the pictures!

I started off on the asphalt, where all the vendor cars were, and the first thing that caught my eye was this crazy Honda Insight. That is definitely the best-looking hybrid I have ever seen!

    Kids Being Kids

This past Thursday, I got a tip from a friend that Mr. Chris Foreman just got new wheels for his Z. After class, I rushed over to Ladera Ranch to see these bad boys in person for the first time. When we arrived, Chris had already begun to adjust his car to fit his impossibly wide setup. Full feature soon when his car is cleaned up and dialed in.

It was the day of the monthly Thursday night Euro meet down at the Laguna Hills Mall, so Chris was anxiously getting everything ready for the meet.

  • Unusual Underground

    Unusual Underground

Welcome to the GG Underground, a place for Royal Origin and friends to go to when we want to relax after enjoying a day with each other, and just want to shoot some cars to end the night. We met up with Chris Foreman and his friends from Ladera Ranch, and Jomar and Josh from Temecula/Murrieta at our favorite place, Tastea, before heading to our late night spot. Check out my video below and our pictures from that night.

CRZ surprisingly had enough room in the trunk for two people to play cards in it.

  • BabyStacks Cafe

    BabyStacks Cafe

During our trip in Vegas, the Royal Origin and Lowballers fam wanted to gather up for some breakfast. We planned the night before that we would go BabyStacks Cafe, previously known as BabyCakes. Well actually, we had pretty much made it a plan to go to BabyStacks way before the Vegas trip. This was my first time (Vinh) in Las Vegas with everyone, so I was probably the only one who hasn’t had the opportunity to enjoy their bomb breakfast foods. Everyone always talked about how awesome their red velvet pancakes are. I had some pretty high expectations coming in for breakfast and I wasn’t disappointed one bit. It was amazingly life changing; I will never look at ordinary pancakes the same. A must-have if you’re ever in the area. Haha, sorry for my Yelp Review, now let’s see some photos.

Everyone starting to show up at BabyStacks.

  • Days Before the Meet

    Days Before the Meet

We couldn’t contain our excitement of going to Vegas and seeing our most favorite people in the world, so Jeff, David, Jennifer, and I decided to go a day earlier than the others to be able to bask in the Vegas morning. The route to Vegas was pretty shitty for slammed cars; everyone who rode in a lowered car could attest to this. Good thing we went late at night because Jennifer was swerving left and right when we hit the construction parts on the 15. Got to see a crew of modded cars rolling pass us, who also showed up at the meet! On the next morning, Friday, we went to go eat at Sushi Bomb; David always raves about this place and how amazing the Volcano Roll is.

David and Jeff, the happy couple. Jeff only looks sad because he didn’t get his morning wood taken care of by David before going to Sushi Bomb.
