Slammed Society Irwindale

So this past weekend Royal Origin decided to come out in full force for the Slammed Society Irwindale show. We rolled up 20 plus cars deep and like usual we all got there kind of late, but everything ended up working out perfectly because Fatlace gave us a little corner on the drag strip to set up all our cars. The only problem I had with roll in was that no one told us we weren’t allowed to have a passenger roll in with us. So all the passengers (girlfriends) were told to wait outside of the gates until 2 P.M. when the gates would open to the public. Luckily Bonnie, Regina, and Carol dressed up like import models that day and we were able to sneak them in through Dsport as import models and Ryo from Lowballers Japan as their photographer! Besides that little problem, SS Irwindale would have to be one of the funnest shows I’ve been to in a while. Vinh, Minh, and I were able to go down to the pits and get right up close and personal with the drift cars, and thanks to Young everyone was turned up to the fullest that day. I can’t wait for Formula D to start next year I’m definitely getting a media pass for every show!

Enough of me talking and onto the cars. This past show brought out the best of the best fitment, from meaty fitment all the way down to stretch tire fitment. It also brought out different build styles from full blown track cars to cars that are literally millimeters off the ground. I wasn’t able to take many pictures of the cars because coincidentally the perfect time to take pictures was also the perfect time for the public to check out the showcase.

The king of cracking oil pans, Jimmy muthafuckin Lieu, He has cracked 6 oil pans with in the span of 6 months. He decided to go full retard for the show and tuck rim all the way around. Sadly he cracked his pan for the 7th time on the way home from the show, but everything worked out okay, he got a tow from our good friend Kevin and slapped on his new pan the following day.

This EG hatch was insane. One of a kind rebarrled regamasters and it was converted to right hand drive!

This Acura CL reminded me of my friend Michael Johnson’s Acura TL, none the less, it was a beautiful piece of machinery.

John Tran’s Integra sitting beautifully on CCW’s Unfortunately the following morning, the car was stolen from Orange Coast College. Can everyone please keep an eye out for this car, it was last seen in Riverside.

Sean’s G35 had people scratching there head’s and wondering how he drives this thing. The fitment on this car is ridiculously insane!

AWWWWWWFILMS brought out his spec B legacy. Love his white on white combo, keep an eye out for his car when he rocks the rotiform wrw’s.

Vinh aka “big vinh” was afraid he wasn’t going to be able to show because he didn’t have enough time to finish his turbo setup. Luckily with the help of friends he was able to get it running properly the night before.

Kyle brought out his newly finished BN sport S13. It was so hard for me to snap a picture of this car due to people swarming around it! Congratulations on winning the speedhunter award and I can’t wait for the feature to drop.

“JPN SPEC” was what the license plate said on this car. Without a doubt this car definitely fits in with that category. Right hand drive converted with the multicolor race scheme straight out of Japan.

A Night to Remember

About a week ago, Lowballers Japan came out to Cali for a little visit. We actually threw a small meet for them so they could get a feel of what the car scene is like out here. Unfortunately, I arrived to the meet on Filipino time so I wasn’t able to snap any pictures. A couple of days after the meet, we took the Lowballers out for the night. We decided on Past Memories in Garden Grove. It is a small Korean restaurant that serves bombdotcom Soju and pretty good Korean Food. This time, I had my camera with me, so I was ready to snap some pictures of the infamous Lowballers Japan, but stupid me got too buzzed to take pictures so I ended up forgetting to take my camera out (I’m sorry).

Shortly after dinner, the Lowballers went back to their hotel because they had an extremely early flight the next morning. Vince and Yogi from Fatlace/Illest decided to come out and chill with us that night, and Vince brought out his Gangster of Gangsters Honda Odyssey. Nimo also came out that night and brought out his super dumped IS300. Since we were all together and Yogi also had his camera, we decided to do a photo shoot of Vince’s car and the rest of the cars that were there.

We started the night off at a DIY car wash. Vince, looking sexy as fuck, washing his car.

Unfortunately all the pictures I took of Vince’s car came out like shit. All of them were super grainy or too dark. I messed around with one picture in Photoshop and this is what I came out with. Like I said before, this van is super gangster. I believe it is rocking a set of Work Meister’s s1R on one side and a set of SSr MS1 on the other side. Don’t quote me on it though because I am not 100 percent sure.

SOC A WOCKA

December 16th was a day I was looking forward to since the start of December. The first reason was because I wanted to unveil my car and the second reason was because it was going to be Style Over Comfort’s one year meet. There were plenty of things going on that day. 88 Rotors threw a meet that day, as well as 9k racing/AWOL. Although there were different things going on, I already knew which one I would attend, and yup, it was most definitely going to be STYLE OVER COMFORT’s meet. Anh, the owner of SOC, is a very good friend of mine, so I knew that the meet was where I would debut my car.

I got there around 11AM and the parking lot was already packed. The first thing I noticed was Dogzilla, so I was extremely excited right from the get go. The next thing I notice was that the complex was surrounded by speed bumps. It was the first time ever in my life going over a speed bump in my car, and I was surprised as to how easy it was. I always thought I would automatically get stuck but that wasn’t the case. I then found a parking spot, thanks to Minh and Anh, and hopped out of my car to say hello to everyone.

The meet itself had a good turnout in my opinion. Cars from Phaze2, Its JDM Yo vanguard, and Oniwagens came out to show some love to Anh and everyone at SOC. I only took a couple of photos due to the rain and me being lazy, but Minh has more photos of the meet as well as our little adventure to Downtown Disney after the meet.

He Said, “BAGS ARE FOR GROCERIES”

Hello Everyone! I haven’t blogged on this site for so long that I pretty much forgot how everything worked. Well, actually, I don’t think I ever learned how to use this site properly in the first place, so it doesn’t really matter. But anyways lots of awesome things have been happening to me within these last couple of weeks. I recently picked up a new camera and lens so I was pretty excited about that.

But forget about all my bullshit talking and let’s get into the badass shit. The car you see below your pupils belongs to a good friend of mine that goes by the name of Zack. As soon as I picked up my new camera, he coincidentally purchased some wheels for his LS400, so me being the excited one with a new camera, automatically asked him if he was down to do a photoshoot. He happily agreed so we set a date and time to make it happen. Unfortunately the first time Zack and I met up, I had decided to use my crappy Canon UV filter on my 24-70. This filter sucks ball sack and I have no clue why I used it, so all the pictures I took came out blurry as fuck. I was really upset but Zack said it was cool and would let me re-shoot it the following week. We shot it again the following week, and this time I had my new 16-35 with me. It was my first time messing with a wide angle lens, and all I could say is, it is super awesome!!! I am still learning how to use it so some of these pictures may look a little weird and that’s because I was positioning the car the wrong way for a wide angle, but I’m still learning so don’t scrutinize me please!

This LS 400 is one of the lowest, if not the lowest, static LS400 state wide. Zack decided to do something a little different, he wanted to go with a VIP style car but also rock that sporty look at the same time, and this is the result. He decided to run a custom set of Rotiform SJC’s in sizings of 18×10-23 and 18×12-13, yup rub your eyeballs and squint a couple of times cause those specs are correct. Zack decided to match those with a set of KSPORT COILOVERS, not bags. You will understand why I caplocked coilovers. He also had his exhaust straight piped so this thing sounds like a monster. The car may look a little janky at the moment but it is still in its beginning stages, so don’t even judge it yet. He has paint and legit body work in the works already. He also has a set of studio RCA’s coming in so you will definitely see this thing cambered out “back to the future style.” Believe it or not, he also plans to lower the car some more. I told him he’s crazy, but that’s Zack, he will push it to the absolute limit.

Zack does all the work on his car, and let me tell you, he puts a new definition in the word “HOODRAT.” Zack does not give a single fuck when he works on his car!

People of Awesome!!!

A couple of weeks ago, we met up because it’s been a while since we last saw each other. We decided to kick it with a close group of friends, nicknamed AWESOME PEOPLE! Yeah, that’s right, awesome people. It’s funny how this group on Facebook came about. The group started off with people who were showing with Royal Origin for the 2011 Autocon show. Gradually after the show, our friends started to add people for fun and now we have a huge group of awesome people posting up everything, from drifting to people’s penis. What’s especially cool about the group is that we all share a common hobby, cars. We don’t just drive ordinary cars, but we drive AWESOME ones. The day we all decided to meet up also turned out to be the day that we would do a mini car meet on top of Diamond Jamboree. Fun Fact: Diamond Jamboree is pretty much the hangout spot for awesome people, so if you want to kick it with us just hit us up at Lollicup. Anyways, the little car meet ended up turning into somewhat of a photo shoot. With so many cool cars, it was hard not to take pictures. So here is what I have for you.

This awesome Miata you see below is Zayan’s. Believe it or not, Zayan claims that this is his raised ride height. Stupid crazy if you ask me!

Wekfest LA 2012 Part 2 (Angelo)

Wekfest Long Beach was one of the most anticipated car shows that I have been waiting for. One reason was because I was planning to show my car, and another reason was because I knew it would bring out the best of the best that SoCal has to offer.

I was hoping to have a lot done on my car for Wekfest, but time was not on my side. I was really busy with school, trying to get ready for finals, and work took up all my time on the weekends, so I ended up not changing anything. I did add one big piece of information, and that is my car is for sale. That was the main reason why I wanted to show my car at Wekfest. I wanted to promote it and let everyone know that it’s for sale. But enough about my car and me, and onto the show. Wekfest was spectacular like always. I felt like it was better organized than last year. We did not have to wait a long time to get our cars into the show, and the parking situation was well-planned and organized. The finest cars came out and displayed what they had. I noticed that the VIP style is very popular this year, and is becoming something very main stream. There were also a lot of nice functional cars on display ranging from Subie track cars to tracked out Civics. The styles of builds were endless.

I started off on the asphalt, where all the vendor cars were, and the first thing that caught my eye was this crazy Honda Insight. That is definitely the best-looking hybrid I have ever seen!

SUBIE SUBIE VROOM

Today was planned out like any other Wednesday. Head off to school bright and early in the morning, meet up with Bonnie after school to grab a bite to eat, and then head off to Disneyland, but today involved a different turn of events. Bonnie had work at 5P.M. today, so we decided to cancel our Disneyland trip and do something else instead. We gave my good friend Dennis a visit at his work place. Dennis works at Performance Nissan in the City of Industry. We met about a year ago through Team Supastar. From that point on, we became really good friends.

Dennis drives a 2002 Subaru WRX. He recently told me that he purchased a new set of wheels for his car, so I got really excited after hearing that. Dennis has gone through many different sets of wheels, from ROTAS to ADVANS to WORKS. This time around, Dennis went with SSR and to be more specific, he purchased a set of SSR GPO’S. Now, I know what everyone is thinking, “WHERE IN THE WORLD DID HE FIND A SQUARE SETUP OF THAT TYPE OF WHEEL?!” Wrong!! Dennis decided to go outside of the box and run a staggered set of wheels on his All Wheel Drive Subie. Now, all of you are probably thinking, “OHH MAN, HE IS GOING TO FUCK UP HIS TRANNY!” Wrong again!!! Dennis has everything planned out. He is going to make his staggered setup run perfectly fine on his Subaru. We’re all going to take a real quick Subie lesson. So, what destroys the transmission on a Subie when running a staggered setup is tire sizing. One tire ends up spinning earlier than the other because of the difference in diameter sizing. So what Dennis has planned is to carefully calculate the correct tire size so that all four wheels have the exact same diameter for all four wheels to spin at the exact same time. Just in case that plan fails and somehow ends up ruining his transmission, Dennis still has another plan up his sleeve. He has an extra transmission laying around at home, so if his current one breaks, he is ready to replace it with a new one. The plan doesn’t stop there. If Dennis’ transmission decides to break, he is already planning to do a Rear Wheel Drive conversion with the other transmission, so his staggered setup will definitely work on the car.

Alignment Day at 714 Tires

So with Vegas right around the corner, all of us are trying to prepare for the crazy trek up the 15N to the state that is known for, “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.” Jimmy, Minh, and I decided to get an alignment for our cars today at our buddies’ place over at 714 Tires. The funny thing is that 714 Tires has an above-ground alignment rack, so getting our somewhat low cars onto the rack was a mission for all of us.

Jimmy’s car went first and it took a couple of wooden planks and a jack to get his car up on the rack, but it made it.

Night Import Collaboration

William Lee of Night Import hosted a meet. Shavi, Minh, and I decided to go check it out. We thought that it would have a crazy turn-out, but what we encountered last night was much more than we anticipated. Lines and crowds of people were in the structure that the meet was held at. It was like swimming in a sea of people.

It seriously felt like we were in the Tokyo Drift movie, getting ready to drift in between pillars. The crazy thing was, we got there when the meet was already dying down. Will told us that earlier, cars were coming in from every direction, and that he was so sure that cops were going to end it. Luckily, no cops showed up, and the meet was a success. (more…)

WFC Venice Beach 2012

This past weekend was the Wrong Fitment Crew meet in Santa Monica/Venice Beach. It was a highly anticipated meet since many websites, blogs, and forums were promoting the event. We all planned to meet up bright and early so we could all roll deep together to the meet, but that did not happen. Some of us met in Irvine and others met in Walnut. Fortunately, I live in the Walnut area, so I thought I could wake up 10 minutes before the meet-up time & still make it. Well, that was not the brightest idea. Since I woke up late, everyone else who was caravanning with us ended up being late as well (sorry everybody), and on top of that, the fact that I have an unfunctional car did not help. We had to take two extra freeways because I could not use the normal 10 freeway (sorry again). But, after all the hecticness, we finally arrived in Santa Monica.

We arrived around 10:30 A.M. Once we got there, our caravan was lost. There were so many cars coming from every direction, so we had to let people in between us. We waited about 15 minutes on the main street that led us to the parking lot, but we all ended up waiting for nothing because we soon found out that the parking lot was full, and the police were not letting anyone in. We somehow all managed to meet up again and parked in a parking lot across from the event.
