Shop Visit | JDM Engine Pro

By  |

For weeks, we’ve been on a search for a 2JZ-GTE engine for a customer’s car at Robros Customs. After many inquiries, we finally found a shop that had a clean Aristo 2JZ-GTE engine and that shop was JDM Engine Pro. We made an appointment and ventured down to La Habra to check out the shop and what they had to offer.

When they say they are JDM Engine Pros they really do mean it, check out this stock of engines.

Chris the owner of JDM engines has an extensive knowledge of all engines from Japan. Chris also gave us so many options for what to put into our customer’s S13 and explained the pros and cons of it all. Here he is explaining to us about a rare engine that is like the younger brother of the GTR engine.

It has forged internals and it comes stock turbo charged.

One of Chris’s many personal drift cars. Also note that each car has some crazy engine swap in it.

At JDM Engine Pro, they check the compression right in front of you.

They also clean your engine before you take it home. Look how brand new this 2jz looks.

More project cars. He might be selling a couple, so hit him up if you’re in the market for a drift car.

This is actually the car that I remembered meeting Chris in, back when I was working at Illest OC. His friends came by the shop in a pack and he was telling me about a drift spot in Costa Mesa that I should try one day. Crazy how small the world is and I am meeting him again at his shop.

A zenki S14 on SSR Type F wheels.

074

Transmissions for days.

072

Chris said that today is one of those days when they don’t really have anything. Crazy because to me it looked like it was full of cool stuff.

070

Anyone looking for front clips for their cars?

Chris’s clean kouki s14 with 326 Power suspension that came off of Mitsuru Haruguichi’s track car.

Hit up Chris from JDM Engine Pro and tell him we sent ya! He can answer anything and everything about JDM engines and transmissions. Check out their website below.. Thanks Chris for the tour of the shop! We will be back in 3 weeks.
