Southern Worthersee Part Four | Throw Back

Throwing it back to one of the most memorable events/trips to enjoy different automotive culture than what I am used to in Southern California. Also, took me awhile to edit through the pictures as I rarely do take pictures, however, I recently picked up a Sony A7II with the kit lens, and it has motivated me to shoot more pictures as well as video of course.

DAY ONE: We arrived in Helen, Georgia very early in the morning, and already got greeted by familiar faces, and a lot of different quality ones.

A lost SoCal tribesmen came to greet us as well.

Through my network over at Mazda Fitment, I recognized Nate’s Miata parked in a random parking lot. Definitely as lovely in person as on the internet.

The new finish on the OZ Turbos was a nice touch to the new vinyl wrap theme.

On this trip, I told Ryo he had to come out to an East Coast event before he went back to Japan. Definitely glad he took my word for it, cause he was blown away. Ryo you will be missed!

This VW stood out amongst the rest. Liked it a lot.

Alex Goldstein’s E92 M3 On BBS RS2 wheels. Got the pleasure of shooting this car, which you can see later on in this post.

Another Mazda that I recognize through my network at Mazda Fitment. Also, got to meet the owner, was pretty cool.

Absolute love the direction Chris has had with this car of recent. Always well done through nearly all the stages of this car.

The south has some amazingly smooth roads and awesome twists. Really wanted a proper car to take it on a nice spirited drive here.

Southern beauty. Found this random pond/lake. Definitely not the nature we are used to in Southern California.

This E46 M3 had an excellent blend of style with the Weds Kranze LXZs.

One of a decent number of Miatas at SOWO. This one on AME made Fatlace FZERO1.

Another euro that blended a different style to the mundane usual stuff you would see on a euro.

This is a husband and wife pair right here. Both into some rad vintage euros; the bug and the bus.

Something I am more used to seeing back home.

Loved the fender to lip of the wheel fitment. On point fife.

DAY TWO: We stayed at Chris’s cabin about a few miles out of Helen, and came back the next day to continue exploring Helen.

Behind that door was bad things.
    www.shop.royal-origin.com

I have seen a few pictures of this in the past floating around from Southern Fresh. Finally get to meet Justin and his LS400.

Kyle’s 326power’d out GS300. Got to shoot both of these later on as well.

The Risky Devil yacht. AJ bought this down from Arizona to Chicago to Georgia.

Found an awesome spot to shoot the cars. Here is Alex’s E92 M3.

Loving the southern back drop. A nice different scenery that we are usually used to in SoCal.

    Horse friends.

Kyle’s GS300 enjoying that southern air.

It’s Fun To Do Bad Things.
    www.shop.royal-origin.com

Love the rear end of this one with all those lines and details. Kyle just needs to insert the tips ;]

    Justin’s LS400. Custom wide body.

Love the aggressive boss presence this has.

    Those fender cuts. Love it.

Got to enjoy another East Coast trip with Ryan and his WRX. This time around the car has changed quite a lot since then.

Always a pleasure to enjoy Ryan’s southern hospitality.

DAY THREE: On the last day in Helen we were back in town seeing what was left. Still a good number of cars and quality stuff laying around. This Miata was on point with the BBS RFs.

The iconic Walking Dead location. Atlanta, Georgia.

    Atlanta, Georgia from the sky.

And back home to SoCal we went. Definitely loved this trip and event. The vibe and feel is different than H2Oi, and is definitely an experience I will continue to try to repeat.

    Night Hunger

One of the best things about living in Orange County is the variety of fattening food we have here. One of our favorite spots to hit up is The Hat. A restaurant that specializes in pastrami and giving you heart attacks.

    008

We had to gas up before the long trip to Brea which is like only 20 minutes away..

    009

    Adam’s camborghini.

    Little miata at The Hat!

    014

Drink of choice when you’re devouring pastrami chili cheese fries.

    015

Banana peppers go really well with the fries as well.

    016

John eyeing down the cooks to add more pastrami to his fries.

    018

Things are about to get saucy.

    020

This is probably the greatest thing I’ve ever seen.

    021

Ryo probably not understanding why we eat such fatty food.

    022

    “I wish a ninja would”

    023

    They’re Gods I tell you, Gods…

    025

Everyone got their own fries… One set of fries is usually good for 2-3 people, but our fat asses each got our own.

    026

Adam not partaking in this monstrosity of a meal.

    027

Whenever we get our pastrami chili cheese fries, the song Heaven by Bryan Adams comes to mind.

“Baby you’re all that I want
When you’re lyin’ here in my arms
I’m findin’ it hard to believe
    We’re in heaven”

    Miata Tuesdays

Car meets. I randomly go to them and take photos.

    001

Jay’s Miata is like the ugly duckinling among these cars.

    003

Just kidding Jay, I like your car.

    004

Miata owners contemplating on the what they should do to make their cars less girly.

Here’s one way add a GT wing and put some cool looking rims on it.

  • Boba and Miatas

    Boba and Miatas

When I first purchased my Miata, I had very little knowledge of the car. Instead of being an anti-social punk by trying to learn at home on the computer, I always made an effort to go out to roadster meets. In most circumstances I am a firm believer that you can learn a lot more sustainable information about your car by going to gatherings with other enthusiasts instead of reading words on the internet. Not only are meets a great place to gather information, it’s also a great place to socialize with people who obviously share a common interest.

Eventually I became more acquainted with my car and also the community of Roadster drivers. Surprisingly the Orange County area didn’t have any local Roadster meets so a couple of friends and I pitched the idea of having a meet held every other Tuesday at Diamond Jamboree in Irvine.

To give it a little personality the meet was christened with the name Boba & Miatas. The itinerary for every meet would typically be: show up, get boba, and hang out in the parking lot talking about life and Miata’s. Surprisingly the meet has become more than just Roadsters though, as the Imports@UCI guys on occasion collaborate with us and bring out their cool rides as well. It’s always refreshing to have them come out and hang out as they are very awesome guys that aren’t afraid to meet and hang out with new people.

To keep the meet fun, we try to have a unique theme for each gathering. This past Tuesday we decided to have the Boba & Miatas Photoshoot Edition. Imports@UCI came out to mingle and the FR-S crowd also had a meet at Diamond Jamboree as well.

As always, I showed up fashionably late. I came straight from school and didn’t bring a camera. Towards the end of the meet I started messing around with Lerry’s camera to snap a few pictures but most people had already left. Patrick Vidal and Daniel Wood were also kind enough to take pictures for us as well! Here are a few cars that stood out to me at the meet.

This car changed my outlook on having 16″ wheels on an NA(first gen) Miata. No overkill camber and uber poke here. Just good looking clean fitment.

This awesome looking thing belongs to a man that the Miata community refers to as JonB. If you own a Miata and don’t know who he is, then you don’t deserve to own one, but I’ll educate you now. He works at Project-G and has two Miatas. Both cars roll on TE37 Super-laps. His favorite soda is Diet Coke.

Boosted from the factory, this Mazdaspeed Miata belongs to Chris. I like to refer to him as the mad-scientist of the Miata community for the following reasons: 1. He teaches Physics at UCI and, 2. His other Miata is composed of a lot of awesome well thought-out modifications that he has developed and produced all by himself!

This red Mazdaspeed Miata belongs to Kevin. It’s a car that looks simple as he has concentrated in making it perform better. No bark, all bite.

This black NA belongs to Jay. Among Orange County Miata people, he is known as Jay 1.0 (I’m Jay 3.0). If you have fake BRIDE seats he’ll be willing to rip you a new asshole. If you have been in the fitment scene for a long time and remember seeing pictures of a black Miata with chrome Work Eurolines, well this is what that car looks like now. LOL.

Lerry occasionally comes out and hangs out with us too. I’ll never get tired of this car. Who the eff fixes up an FX right??

I hope you readers enjoyed the short coverage of the meet. I encourage you all to try to take some time out and try out a few car meets, even if it’s not the super-duper-awesome Boba & Miatas meet. It doesn’t matter what you drive or what you have done to it. Get in your car and cruise out to your local meet. You won’t be disappointed with what you can learn and who you can meet.

Thanks again to those who come and hang out with us every other Tuesday. Hopefully next time we can get some real pictures of all the cars that show up.

    Shout-outs:

    Imports@UCI for collaborating with us!
Patrick Vidal and Daniel Wood for their awesome pictures!

  • People of Awesome!!!

    People of Awesome!!!

A couple of weeks ago, we met up because it’s been a while since we last saw each other. We decided to kick it with a close group of friends, nicknamed AWESOME PEOPLE! Yeah, that’s right, awesome people. It’s funny how this group on Facebook came about. The group started off with people who were showing with Royal Origin for the 2011 Autocon show. Gradually after the show, our friends started to add people for fun and now we have a huge group of awesome people posting up everything, from drifting to people’s penis. What’s especially cool about the group is that we all share a common hobby, cars. We don’t just drive ordinary cars, but we drive AWESOME ones. The day we all decided to meet up also turned out to be the day that we would do a mini car meet on top of Diamond Jamboree. Fun Fact:  Diamond Jamboree is pretty much the hangout spot for awesome people, so if you want to kick it with us just hit us up at Lollicup. Anyways, the little car meet ended up turning into somewhat of a photo shoot. With so many cool cars, it was hard not to take pictures. So here is what I have for you.

This awesome Miata you see below is Zayan’s. Believe it or not, Zayan claims that this is his raised ride height. Stupid crazy if you ask me!

    Finding Nimo

This past weekend, Jeff aka “King Kumo” hit Nimo, Vu, and I up, saying that he wanted to come kick it in our area (Riverside/Moreno Valley). We were all down since we probably would have had nothing else to do around here anyway. Jeff was SO close to arriving here in one piece. Unfortunately, he had a battle against a piece of wood on the freeway and the wood won. He suffered a cracked lip and bumper…but he just saw it as an opportunity to get a new bumper. We ended up chillen and taking some pictures of Nimo’s Accord. All in all, it was a nice, chill day with the homies.

Spotted Jeff and Vu’s car in the lot.

Jeff met us up at the UV in Riverside and we had a quick lunch at Pho Vinamm.

    Cruising Out The Weekend

Last Sunday, I woke up to a bright warm sunny afternoon. Now usually on Sunday for most people, there isn’t much to do. Some people go to church, some people run errands for the following week, and some people, like in my case, find themselves recovering from the previous night. The weather was so nice that I couldn’t see myself being a couch potato at home, so I called up a couple of local buddies from Team Tochigi and we decided to go cruise around  and soak in the awesome weather.

Like every other day that I hang out with these guys, we started our day by meeting up at Diamond Jamboree for a quick boba run at Lollicup.
