Formula Drift Car Show Roll In | Long Beach

This year felt a bit different at Formula Drift Long Beach, it’s usually the time of excitement to show off our new car builds, but this year we were on the other side of the Firestone bridge. For 2015, we decided to be vendors and only displaying a couple of our cars, but we were still able to catch the roll in for the show portion of Formula Drift. Nothing better than seeing a line of slammed cars roll into a show and it gets even better when the roll in is during golden hour for some crisp photos.

  • Wekfest LA 2014

    Wekfest LA 2014

Wekfest has become one of the best shows in the nation. The Queen Mary is probably the most over used spot in Southern California for a car show with that being said Wekfest has always been able to give a sell out crowd with lines that would reach a mile long. That’s pretty impressive considering how saturated car shows are in southerm California. To me Wekfest LA is like a big party where all the friends that you wanted to be there actually show up and are there on time. We try to go to all of the Wekfest shows when it’s in our vicinity and this time to start off the first event in California, we threw a collaboration pre meet for Wekfest LA. Thank Kenneth for giving us the opportunity to host the Wekfest LA Pre Meet and for having us at the show.

    WEKFEST LA 002

Being a vendor we had to be at the venue at 7 AM. Crazy to see all these people awake and energetic so early in the morning. Some of us only got 2 hours or no sleep.

    WEKFEST LA 003

This Miata is pretty awesome. Crazy back story on these wheels. These are the same wheels that were stolen off of Tina’s Miata. When shit gets stolen from you, don’t expect the cops to get it back for you even if you have proof and a police report. #FTP and #fuckthieves.

  • Thursty Thursday.

    Thursty Thursday.

Water rolled down our faces, and our worst fears became reality when the rainy clouds appeared. All week long, the summer rays were shining bright as ever, but on the night of our meet, nature decided that it was thirsty for some rain. Hours before the meet, we were still debating whether or not we should have the meet or postpone it because at 9pm, the weather forecast predicted thunderstorms. Like all of our previous meets, we decided last minute that the meet would continue and we didn’t really care who came out because we had to get our Peach Me Sweatea fix. I rolled up early and to my surprise, there were already a gang of cars. I didn’t know there were people as down as us to kick it even during thunderstorms.

Cars were constantly coming through; the Tastea lot was overflowing with rain and cars, so people started parking in the fire lanes and handicap zones.

    Formula Drift: Long Beach 2012

Finally, the Formula Drift season was here! I was getting bored of going to car meets and shows, seeing the same thing over and over. I really wanted to do some motor sports kind of photography. This year, there were many new sights at FD, such as the Scion FRS that Ken Gushi drove, and Daigo Saito from D1GP competed and brought his Lexus SC430 mated with 3.4 liter Brian Crower stroker 2JZ-GTE. There was an in-car video on youtube of Daigo driving it on practice day and it sounded insane. Got me super excited to witness the monster in action. As soon as I arrived at the parking structure, I could smell the burning rubber and hear the screech of tires drifting. It got me giddier than a high school girl who just got  asked to the prom.

Saw the Megan-racing AE86 on the way to the entrance.

    WFC Venice Beach 2012

This past weekend was the Wrong Fitment Crew meet in Santa Monica/Venice Beach. It was a highly anticipated meet since many websites, blogs, and forums were promoting the event. We all planned to meet up bright and early so we could all roll deep together to the meet, but that did not happen. Some of us met in Irvine and others met in Walnut. Fortunately, I live in the Walnut area, so I thought I could wake up 10 minutes before the meet-up time & still make it. Well, that was not the brightest idea. Since I woke up late, everyone else who was caravanning with us ended up being late as well (sorry everybody), and on top of that, the fact that I have an unfunctional car did  not help. We had to take two extra freeways because I could not use the normal 10 freeway (sorry again). But, after all the hecticness, we finally arrived in Santa Monica.

We arrived around 10:30 A.M. Once we got there, our caravan was lost. There were so many cars coming from every direction, so we had to let people in between us. We waited about 15 minutes on the main street that led us to the parking lot, but we all ended up waiting for nothing because we soon found out that the parking lot was full, and the police were not letting anyone in. We somehow all managed to meet up again and parked in a parking lot across from the event.

So You Think You Can Stance?

A couple of days ago Tony Lee of Its JDM Yo hosted a competition/car meet to promote his 2 year anniversary car show. When we first heard of “So You Think You Can Stance?” We thought hmm… that sounds pretty cool something different and out of the ordinary.

So We got to the event early to setup and check it out. It did not take too long for the parking lot to get packed. Lots of flashy cars, and a couple of vendors with their booths up trying to sell/market their merchandise. Just an overall fun event with our various friends again.

    KEYCHAIN!!!!!!

It is rare to see fully built AE86 coupe these days let alone a clean stock one…

    Happy Birthday 1013MM

Most people have heard of 1013MM or more like seen their photography work. In actuality, 1013MM is only one man, and that man is our good friend John Zhang. John Zhang produces amazing work in automotive, event, and life style pieces. In celebration of John Zhang’s birthday, he held a well-organized meet on 10-13-2011 that brought out high-quality cars and good times with friends. Check out the photos and video to see the many people that came and John Zhang. Happy birthday again John.

We were in full force that night, we haven’t met up in a while and it was good to see everyone all together.
