Ryo’s Farewell Bonfire | Family Over Everything

I’ve been dreading this month, it’s the month where Ryo will be returning to Japan after living in the United States for two years. We decided to throw a beach bonfire for Ryo’s going away party at Corona Del Mar beach.
    DSC08337

I’m going to miss seeing Ryo’s Q45 rolling slammed in the streets of OC. I’ve seen it go from demon camber to the lowest of lows and seen this car go to crazy places. This thing has been a trooper.

I’m going to miss you Ryo. The two years you were here, you turned from friend to family to Royal Origin. I’m going to miss all the times where you experienced something crazy here and would always go “this is Amuurica” or the time you knocked out in the back of my CRV for five hours. Now my CRV is going to feel lighter and my heart emptier when you leave. I wish you success in Japan and hope all of the gay stuff you learned from us you can use in Japan. Thanks for always helping us get parts from Japan, providing us the latest Stance magazine issues, being our Japanese model, face timing with us at 2 AM when we got lost in Japan, connecting us with visitors from Japan and teaching us Japanese culture. Thank you for everything Ryo. No good byes here, it’s always going to be see you later.

  • Burntzilla – Mama D’s – Mick’s Karma Burger – Din Tai Fung | Food Adventures

Burntzilla – Mama D’s – Mick’s Karma Burger – Din Tai Fung | Food Adventures

On another episode of things Minh feeds his body with, we venture all over south Orange County for the best eats with some of my favorite people during my birthday week.

    021

Burntzilla has been one of the places I’ve been meaning to try for the longest time. It is a combination of the Burnt Truck and Dogzilla who I’ve been following since the food truck craze and even got pretty close with the owner Martin.

    024

Nice decor and good use of the TV screens as the menu.

    025

I went along with our make up artist Becky as she has all the deals. Her uncle was working and hooked us up with some suggestions and good food.

    028

We got a dogzilla, a yakidog, PB & J slider and a chicken and gravy slider. Not pictured is the carne asada tots that we got too.

    032

    036

    039

They also serve ice cream sandwiches!

    042

    043

Spotted Martin cooking it up in the kitchen. I miss it when he had long hair.

    072

As the sun sets, we are on to the next food adventure.

    074

For my birthday, Hayle, Kristine and Ashlyn took me out to Mama D’s! Mama D’s has a great reputation for their italian dishes and for the excellent customer service. The wait is usually long, but that night it went by pretty quick.

    076

Having a good laugh about how hungry we are.

    077

     Live in the moment Hayle.

    079

Living in the moment is stressful.

    080

     Hayle’s vogue look.

    084

    When things get too serious.

    086

    It doesn’t with Hayle.

    081

    087

    I want some open pizza..

    089

They have samples for you to try while waiting and of course we took full advantage of this.

    090

Kristine and Ashlyn show up and just in time for our table. All smiles from this cute couple.

    091

When you’re hungry, the free bread at the beginning is heaven. Just make sure you don’t overload on it like I do and get too full for the main dish.

    093

Ready for some pink sauce pasta.

    097

Small restaurant, but it feels very comfortable.

    099

I got the roma alfredo with pink sauce.

    102

Kristine and Ashyln got the primavera with angel hair and pink sauce.

    106

    104

    107

At the end of our meal, the staff came out with a treasure chest of goodies and to sing me a birthday song. Thank you for the wonderful song!

    111

    Birthday brownie.

    112

A free starter for next time!

    113

    120

    Alright………..

    121

I was immensely satisfied. Thank you Hayle, Kristine and Ashlyn for dinner and the staff at Mama D’s for making my first experience a great one!

    148

The next spot is my go to burger joint. I would probably eat this everyday if I lived 4 miles closer to the freeway. This special place is Mick’s Karma Bar. This time I went with Shavi, Rodney and Tanya, this would be Tanya and Rodney’s first time trying this marvelous burger.

    149

    Camera shy Tanya.

    153

We got the mint mojito, ice tea, strawberry basil lemonade and a Abita root beer for drinks.

    146

    155

Not everyone has the same taste buds, but I will cut you if you say anything bad about Mick’s habanero burger with bacon and eggs. Make sure you ask for the Mick’s sauce on the side!

    159

After eating a delicious burger, I always get into the feels with my photography.

    161

The next morning I had plans to have lunch with Jennifer and Valerie at Din Tai Fung. Din Tai Fung is a steamed dumpling and noodle house from Taiwan. They had one in Arcadia, but there was always a ridiculous wait for it and I never really bothered to go. Now that Din Tai Fung opened only 15 minutes away from me and the wait could be used to go shopping at South Coast Mall, it made it difficult not to finally try this place.

    162

Jennifer and Valerie not living in the moment, but Jennifer was very alert when I took a photo of them.

    164

All ready to destroy some soup dumplings.

    165

This little girl was riding a stroller with a skateboard attached to it. I need that stroller in my life and maybe some kids.

    166

Loving the wood decor even on the ceilings.

    167

All the wood has to do with the traditional way of bringing out dumplings in a wooden basket.

    169

    172

So many soup dumplings and noodles to choose from..

    174

    Some Taiwanese teas and boba.

    179

The food came out quick and just like that the phones were out for a photo. Remember my camera eats first.

    183

These shao mai must feel special that so many people are taking photos of it.

    175

    Pork xiao long bao.

    182

So you’re suppose to bite a hole into the soup dumpling, suck the soup out and then consume it. If you’re a noob like me you will somehow get the soup all over your pants.

    184

Jennifer calls these aliens. Delicious aliens.

    187

    Shrimp and pork wontons.

    190

    Noodles with minced pork sauce.

    192

Thank you Jennifer for the lovely lunch and Valerie for ordering most of the food. Now enjoy a gallery of photos of us…

The Big Day | Enjoy Sin

The big day was here, all the planning we’ve been doing for the past three months has led to this day. Even if the event wasn’t going to be successful, we were just happy to reunite with our friends in Vegas. It’s been a long time since those days we use to take turns on who visited who each weekend and that was the honeymoon stage of our friendship. Even though the honeymoon phase is over, we still have mad love for each other.

    842

We spent most of the morning getting over our hangovers and trying to get a quick power nap before the meet. That is why we like our car meets late in the afternoon. Check out the crew in all black everything, Jeff didn’t get the memo.

    844

    847

Thank you to Kevin and HNRS for planning this collab, Shavi for working everything, VU with the coverage and giving us amazing IG videos, Nimo for taking care of us and giving us fun moments, Aron for all of the help, I notice all the small things you do for us and I’m truly grateful for it. Hayle and Sara for being our spokes models for the event, Jay and LV Racing for help with promotion and getting us a food truck, the Lowballers for always supporting our meets, JDM CHEMICALS, AVANT GARDE WHEELS, ILOVERACING, AWSTICKERS, LEXON, AIR RUNNER SYSTEMS, KYOEI, 714 TIRES for sponsoring the event, Becky for reassuring me when I did have a small anxiety attack, everyone in Royal Origin and their girlfriends who made this trip the best time of my life and most importantly everyone who supported us and came to the meet. Food Truck Meets | Food Adventures

On today’s food adventures, we took out your woman crush Wednesdays, Sara and Hayle to eat some delicious wieners.

First time Sara wasn’t ready for a photo and Vinh was.

    031

Hayle also always alert for a photo op.

    032

Dogzilla one of my favorite food trucks of all time. I’ve been eating here since 2010 when they would be stationed in front of Sam Ash on Beach blvd. Crazy how fast time passes, but their food is still amazing.

    035

Sara telling us about her patients who get worms in their vagina’s right before our food came out.

    049

    051

     It’s a wiener party.

    054 058

The next stop would be Porko Rico BBQ. Get it? Puerto Rico – Porko Rico.

    060

When bae is about to buy you food.

    062

I got the pillager pulled pork. The center was flavorful, but the bun was over bearing and dry. It made it hard to consume after a while and I just ended up eating the center only.

    067

Vinh got the captain porko fries which was the better option among our two orders. They really mastered slow smoked pork here at Porko Rico BBQ.

    072

Last on the list was Meow Meow Cafe, we’ve been here a couple times in the past and it was amazing, but I heard from Alyssa who lives down the street that this place changed ownership and is not as great anymore. Well, she was right…

    074

Anyways, it was cool to put our phones down and just update each other on our lives.

  • Rise Lantern Festival 2014

    Rise Lantern Festival 2014

These past two months, I’ve been blessed to experience beautiful things. I was in Japan for a month with close friends, I saw my favorite artist, The Weeknd perform live and now I end this amazing month with the Rise Lantern Festival. The Rise Lantern Festival is a festival where you release sky lanterns into the sky. Doing this alone is pretty cool, but just like eating at your favorite restaurant the experience is always better when you do it with some of your friends or in this case with 10,000 people. The event was held in the middle of jean dry lake bed, so just 20 minutes away from Las Vegas.

    256

First stop we made as soon as we arrived was at Bachi Burger. Sadly, I was too hungry to remember to bring my camera in for some food porn, but here’s a photo from when I went to Instafame.  The grass fed Miyagi burger is always on point.

    rise 001

Crazy how I’ve been going to Vegas since I was 19 and never really stopped to take a photo of this famous sign.

    rise 008

New friends Ashlyn, Mark, Leo and Denise that met us at Bachi burger. Strangers at first, but connected really quick over the love of food.

    rise 013

After a night of Fat Tuesdays and exploring we headed off to the Gold strike where our shuttle would take us to the the dry lake bed. Waiting in the long line wasn’t that bad because of the cloud porn.

    rise 016

Double rainbow what does it mean?

    rise 017

    rise 020

     Well, that’s not nice.

    rise 021

Ashlyn excited to wait in this line.

    rise 025

     “Yeah, go have fun bae”

    rise 026

As the sun started to set, the clouds looked even more beautiful. People in line were getting distracted by the sky and forgot to move forward.

Amazing what one torch could do.

    rise 103

You could feel the excitement all around us when we were told we could start lighting up lanterns.

    rise 172

They said you need 4 people to light up a lantern, three to hold it and one to take a photo of the three.

    rise 109

    The first lantern!

    rise 118

    The first release!

    rise 129

The best part of photography is capturing a person’s authentic emotions in that moment.

    rise 112

The first release was fucking crazy. It actually made me put down my camera for a moment and just enjoy it.

    rise 160

This photo of Kristine and Ashlyn enjoying this special moment is by far my favorite photo that I’ve ever taken. I am very envious of these two, they were the couple of the weekend and reminded me how fun being in love can be. I saw the past me in them back when I use to dive straight into love, without a life vest and worries about how cold the water would be. Now a days I only test the waters with my toe.

    rise 154

    You and Me – Flume

    rise 151

I saw too many beautiful things on this night that my eyes were starting to have eyegasms and water kept on coming out. Thank you Rise for the memories.

On the way back from the event we were waiting in this ridiculously long line to get back on the shuttle, apparently the people who were suppose to work the shuttles just left, so it turned into chaos. The group decided that walking would be quicker because someone said it would only be a 4 mile walk? It ended up being 6 miles. The walk was nice because we were able to see the stars and I’ve actually wanted to go star gazing for the longest time, so the walk was enjoyable for me. Make the most out of every situation.

    rise 337

There have only been about a half dozen genuinely important events in my life that had a positive effect on how I view the world. Rise Lantern festival has made it on my list, but it wasn’t the festival itself that did it. It was the adventure with some strangers that turned out to be awesome friends that did it. I’m going to miss waking up to laughter every morning and planning the next place to eat after we just ate. Hopefully, there will be more adventures in the future!

  • Wekfest San Jose 2013 | The Destination

Wekfest San Jose 2013 | The Destination

This post was supposed to be posted last week, but due to technical difficulties with our old hosting server we had to delay it. Hopefully with this new host, we are able to accommodate all the traffic we’ve been getting. The day of the show seems like a blur to me. I felt so rush throughout the day from going to get change for the booth to making sure I had time to get coverage of the show. My mind was all over the place.

I wasn’t able to get as much coverage as I wanted because like previous Norcal Wekfest shows there was just so many people that were getting in the way of my shots. So, please bare with me on all my photos.

    221

Pure VIP’s 2IS on CCW. I really liked the front splitter to the rear diffuser, I want to do something similar to this setup.

    222

    The famous purpie.

    240

I’ve seen so many photos of the Liberty Walk kitted M3’s that it’s starting to become a normal to see these at shows.

    244

    Giraffe style LS430.

    276

It was cool how they had a giraffe display for people to take photos with.

    280

Gerald’s root beer was getting a lot of attention.

    282

    Vinh’s ridiculously low STI.

    294

Jeff, Ryan Gold, Rica and I doing work at our booth.

    424

People were asking to get photos with Rica. #famous

    388

We released our new Hoodratstuff tank top and our Set the Sun tee at the show. Which is available online here..

    http://shop.royal-origin.com/

    304

As promised we made it rain stickers.. Not many people were catching the stickers, so we flooded the floors with stickers. In the end though, there was not a single sticker left. #stickerhungry

    335

    Thanks for reppin Chelsea!

    361

This Wekfest I saw a lot of crazy VIP builds and not the ones where they just have suspension, wheels and a JP knot. Real VIP builds with crazy attention to detail such as this LS460. I wish I had more time to fully check out all the VIP cars at the show, but my mind was rushing all over the place.

    431

Another crazy VIP car is Sean from JDM Palace’s LS430. So VIP that the car gets chauffeured around.

    790

Spotted Lance and Anthony sharing an outlet. A very romantic moment in WFC bromance history.

    825

Never personally met Hieu, but I’ve met his car several times so I guess we’re friends? I love the color of his car and how the Work Meisters make his car look so bright and shiny.

    256

Ojay’s Laker themed Previa. One of the few boss Vans out there.

    348

    Thanks for reppin’ Ojay!

    353

Flew by the Fatlace booth and spotted Kenny working the booth.

    372

Next to the Fatlace booth was Joey’s booth. I did a drive by shooting and got some pretty cute head shots of him.

    373

    Facebook profile worthy.

    375

Still ridiculous every time I see this engine bay by Rywire. It makes me want to attempt this on the SC400, but knowing me I probably don’t have the patience or money for it.

    364

Finally got to see Elvis’s LS400 in person. Looks just as crazy in person as it does in photos and with the new Work Meisters it is definitely one of my favorite LS400s right now.

    367

Futura brakes and Work Meisters are the definition of baller.

    347

Michael Mao’s award winning NSX. Not going to be surprised if he came home with a couple of awards.

    265

ATS Garage brought the heat with all of their builds. A lineup that would make all the Honda fanboys scream like little girls.

    377

Evasive FRS with a huge crowd around it.

    439

Dat and Jenn Q at the Fatlace booth.

    440

    Yogi and Kathrina.

    445

    447

A good looking bunch of guys. All homo.

    451

The Stance Lab Mercedes on Work Cr- Ultimates.

    458

The red car and white wheel combo is a classic on a car.

    455

     This was definitely interesting.

    464

Supermodel Rica was annoyed with me taking photos of her without setting up a session with her manager. Sorry. #nomorefreephotos

    481

     Pandora One.

    518

The oh so shiny EGarage RWB.

    519

     The moving mirror.

    741

    Rootbeer CRZ.

    749

    Sandra Wong signing some posters.

    750

    Oh hai.

    755

Hayle wanted some real photos, so she put on the serious face and did some serious modeling.

    758

I call this the “wheel stepper”.

    766

The seriousness didn’t last long and the flamingo pose was back.

    774

The Futura LS430 is probably one of the most godly VIP builds in the U.S. Everything from the headliner to the brakes makes me want to sell my soul so I could build a car of this caliber.

    782

I guess this is the Subaru version of Elvis’s LS400.

    793

Another shot of the Root Beer.

    795

Our new friend David was nice enough to show with us at Wekfest. Thanks David!

    797

    Ariana Grande.

    807

A more race car version of the Liberty Walk M3 with race tires and a long front splitter.

    811

Courtney’s cool F30. I learned from her that all female tuners seem to know each other.

    823

Dennis with his “take a shot with me” face.

    839

    Sweet drift S13.

    850

Mark Arcenal’s Nissan Quest has come along way since I first saw it at Sema last year. One of my favorite VIP vans over here on the West Coast . I’m not just saying that because he’s my boss too.

    854

     Salem’s TSX.

    400

    All gold everything.

    776

Aired out IS. I gotta step my game up next year..

    777

Another shot of the Evasive FRS.

    521

A shot of the venue when everyone left and the awards were being announced.

    509

A rare photo of myself in my own camera.

    508

Girls are always on the phone, never knowing what could be happening around them..

    503

    Jeff”s “I’d eat it” face.

    502

Brandon not enjoying the butt sex from Vinh.

    501

No sun, guns are still out.

    499

    Actually ready for a photo.

    490

    492

Out of nowhere a lesbian sex scene began..

    496

    Cheek to cheek… so sensual..

    494

    488

The fam waiting for the awards to be over..

    472

Congrats to Vinh for taking home 3rd best Subaru of the show and apparently the whole nation as well, that’s what the announcer said so we’re sticking to that story.

There is about 130 more photos in the gallery, so be sure to check it out too! Tomorrow, we’re going to have a special post with some cool photos taken of the Wekfest roll out. Make sure you come back to check it out!

  • Hot Import Nights 2013

    Hot Import Nights 2013

It’s been a long time since I went to a Hot Import Night’s show or any show for that matter. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I was heading there. I just knew that the people who used to run the show aren’t a part of it anymore and there are some new cats taking over. The show was a lot smaller than expected, being that it was in the parking lot of the Fontana Speedway. For a moment, I thought that the parking lot was really packed because of this show, but it turned out that Hot Import Nights was on the same day as a Nascar event. Anyways, along my journey through the parking lot I spotted some cool cars.
