A Quick Trip to SF | Daily Life

My wife woke up one morning and said she needed an adventure, so being the amazing husband that I am, I planned a last minute trip to the bay. Luckily, Hayle had just moved into her apartment and had a spot for us to crash. She was also willing to be our tour guide that weekend.

Our first stop was Devil’s Teeth Baking Company for their famous breakfast sandwiches.

Devil’s Teeth is also known for their fresh cinnamon rolls.

We did a quick hipster photo shoot, Hayle was trying to look fresh with the fruit.

Next we went to Sutro Baths where no one bathes. I was at the right place because I didn’t shower that morning.

Fun fact this is where Kyren asked Hayle to be his girlfriend. Kyren: So, do you want to go out? Hayle: We’re already out…

After getting exhausted from walking up these steps, we were glad we didn’t go to the 15 mile hike that we had planned.

Our next stop would be the California Academy of Science.

Albino alligator. He’s probably the one that talks to the cops when he’s with his other gator friends.

It’s crazy how there is a different environment in each section of the building.

Hayle and Julia enjoy looking at fish swimming and thinking about eating sushi for dinner.

We went into the planetarium and immediately napped.

For lunch, we went to Brenda’s French Soul Food for some craw fish beignets.

The next day we met up with Clinton, Vinh and Rica for Pepper Lunch! One of my favorite restaurants in NorCal and my number one priority when I’m up here.

So simple yet so delicious.

After lunch, we made the journey to Pleasonton for Meadowlark Dairy.

Meadowlark dairy has the best soft serve I have ever tasted.

Kyren is a lucky man.

Wekfest San Jose 2018 | Event Coverage

After Wekfest, we met up with Nimo and the boys for Spartan’s crispy tacos.

Nimo ended up doing a suicide trip just for Wekfest. Crazy guy.

The next morning we went to Facebook to visit Hayle at work for lunch.

I don’t even like sparkling water, but I took one because it was free.

Our tour guide and the person who always reacts and answers the tour guide.

Facebook has snack stations all over the campus for employees to grab for free. Here we have a Filipino mom stuffing her backpack with chips.

Bonfire Birthdays | Family Time

Summer’s ending and what’s a better way to bring in the fall season than to have a bonfire? Good thing it was Hayle and Kyren’s birthday, so I didn’t have to plan anything. The party started at 2:00PM, but the real fun didn’t start until night time when everyone decided to come.

Formula Drift Irwindale | Throw Back Thursdays

It feels like forever since I had a camera. I’m slowly going insane not being able to capture the things I’ve seen lately and the moments I won’t be able to remember. Going to car meets has been a drag since I’m usually active at a car meet. Food is less enjoyable now that I can’t relive eating it, when I’m editing food photos for The Food Adventurist. Life just sucks without a camera. Lucky for me I found some old photos in my memory card that I never edited and it sort of feels nice being able to catch up on some photos and actually take my time to edit it.

This was a shoot Sara planned for the United Royals ad. They wanted something like a USDM vs JDM and for that theme we got Sparkle’s Rocket Bunny S13 and Tristan’s CR S2000. For models, Sara got Amy, a imported Vietnamese girl to represent JDM and Sara a Hawaiian native, pidgin speaking Korean to represent USDM. The photo was looking a little boring without the United Royals ad, so I added a little something something…

Now this photo is poppin! We got DAB city in the background and a 7’1 pimp checking out Sara and Amy. So much action, so much wow.

I think this was my last day with my Sony A7II before I shipped it out to Davin in Hawaii. I was so busy working at the booth at Formula Drift that I didn’t get a chance to go around that much to shoot. So, here are some photos in the Slammed Society area.

After Formula Drift, we had our annual after dinner at Banana Bay which is probably the worst location to take our cars to. Here’s Angelo cheesin it because he didn’t drive his 350z to Banana Bay.

The best moments in life are when I’m around my closest friends eating and sharing food. When you begin to strip down everything in life to the bare minimum, forgetting the cars, the money or anything materialistic, you will eventually realize moments like these are the reasons for living.

Cherish every moment, you never know when’s the last time you’ll see someone or place.

The Homie Hayle | HOODRATstuff

Spent the day with my favorite weirdo, Hayleglaiza Yap Cayaga. It’s weird not seeing her every other day ever since she moved back home to Oxnard. Now we only see each other when she has a job out in OC or if she’s visiting her cousin. Hayle came to my work and got me the get out of work early card, so we could shoot some HOODRATstuff x Steel High Supply product shoots and explore some parts of Long Beach.

Found this spot by the Long Beach Aquarium and it gave the perfect summer vibes we were looking for.

Roll In and Gas Out | Wekfest Roll In

The roll in and set up for a car show is always interesting to see, you can see how a big convention center hall gets filled from side to side with cars and vendors. I am always thankful when a setup time for a car show isn’t before 9AM, so it seemed like today would go pretty smooth for our staging time…

While other people were rolling into the show, half the cars that we brought up had to burn gasoline because of 1/4 fire hazard rule….

We were finally off to go eat at Pepper Lunch and while waiting we discovered that Hayle and Rica were cousin’s cousin’s of another mother’s cousin’s uncle related. Amazing how they look so similar! Definitely related.

Hayle excited to try Pepper Lunch for the first time because of how much we hyped it up.

Finally got mine and I couldn’t wait for it to cook and ate most of it pretty rare.

There’s only one Pepper Lunch in the United States and it’s in Milpitas. They are also the only one in the world that has garlic butter.

Afterwards we got some Mexican ice cream and chamangos from there we decided to go back into SF to go check out Muir woods.

Trees are cool and trees are cooler when they’re super tall, but Muir woods wasn’t as exciting as I thought it would be. I’m actually not sure what I was expecting, probably the monkeys from Planet of the Apes to come out and try to kill us or something. At least it was free.

I would go here for portrait shoots, but no one was looking pretty today or wearing HOODRATstuff.

It’s fun to do bad things.

The main reason I wanted to go to SF was to eat ice cream and we finally got it at Mitchell’s ice cream.

Mitchell’s sells their own ice cream in half gallons. Pretty neat.

Hayle also approves or she got hit in the eye with something and she’s trying to get it out with her thumb.

Even when it was cold, people were still in line to get some ice cream here.

What is different about Mitchell’s is that they make you get a number and then they call you up to be serviced. Actually works a lot better than a line.

Hayle can’t wait to eat some of Kyren’s shoulder.

It was finally our time to shine and of course we tried all of the flavors.

Beautiful.

I actually forgot what I got, but all the flavors there are really good and the consistency of the ice cream is superb.

We met up with Vinh and the rest of the group and drove up to the hills of Milpitas to do some HOODRATstuff and check out the view.

Forest Feels | RO Explore

Bomb breakfast and hiking. What more can you ask for on a Sunday? Today, I’ll be continuing our adventures in Vegas and like the weird people we are, we go to Vegas to go hiking at MT. Charleston.

Start the day right with some coffee at Babystacks cafe.

Gerald’s Baby Shower | Baby King

When Jesus was born in the Bible, three wise men came to give him gifts. Well when Gerald’s first baby, eight of us traveled from California to Las Vegas to give the first king essentials for his infant life.

We left right after Ryo’s bonfire, so we were able to catch the sun rise on the way to Vegas.

Finally made it, we were all a little weird from the long trip.

First stop would be Egg and I, where things get pretty eggciting with all of their breakfast dishes.

We decided to check out down town Las Vegas since Hayle, Derek and Ryo have never been. It’s actually a cool place to be just extremely ratchet.

Living in Orange County can be a bit dull sometimes, good thing LA is only a 30 minute drive. The crew wanted to get some new tinder photos, so we decided to go out at night for some cool LA city photos.
