Greddy Racing FRS | Car Feature

I got an opportunity to shoot the Greddy FRS for some of their future promo work. Check it out and good luck to Ken Gushi and the Greddy Team in this year’s Formula Drift season.

We got permission to shoot at the SEMA garage and use all of their equipment. Kenji and Ben putting tire stickers on for the shoot.

This livery was designed by one of our own Kevin Sanchez. It looks so good.

Ken ran a marathon the day before and was feeling the pain. Amazing that he endured the soreness for this shoot.

Kenji telling Ken to man up for this last shot.

Make sure you check out Greddy for all of your performance needs!

Formula Drift Long Beach 2014 and Offset Kings Show Case

I feel like I’ve been covering Formula Drift Long Beach for a while now. Not much has changed, maybe different cars but the same vibe. Seems like every year I get less and less content because I end up having other priorities on my plate. This year it was the first time I was working with a company that had a booth in the vendor aisle.  So my deepest apologies if there isn’t that many photos.  Just kidding, I don’t really care what you think. Enjoy the photos though.

    Formula Drift 2013 | Irwindale

I hope you enjoyed our last post which was mostly focused on the Slammed Society showcase. I love talking about myself so I’ll be showing you Irwindale through my eyes and what I experienced. The morning of the show was pretty hectic, we had to get enough food for the whole day, drinks, pack up a canopy and a hundred folding chairs into my car. Somehow we were able to fit most of it in my compact IS250. We were suppose to leave Stanton at 9:30 AM, but shit out of luck we ended up leaving at 10:14 AM. I had planned for Heather to drive my car while I did some rolling shots, but she ate a bunch of frosted flakes that morning and couldn’t make it. Somehow I ended up with Thao in my car, but she’s been riding dirty without a licenses for a while so she had to be the photographer. I just set the settings for her and let her fire away.

    FDIRWINDALE 006

Big Vinh aka Wonderful Vinh aka I have LSD and a turboed KA now barely got his car finished for the show.

    FDIRWINDALE 005

This year was a bit more of a hassle as mention in the previous post. Irwindale security was really on our asses about not being able to take passengers even if they had a ticket. People were yelling left and right, tensions were high and all because they didn’t want to let loved ones through the gate even if they paid for a ticket already.

    FDIRWINDALE 048

After all the commotion settled down, we got the cars set up and the fun began.

    FDIRWINDALE 067

    FDIRWINDALE 053

He was just a big roadster fan and wanted a photo with Jay’s Miata.

    FDIRWINDALE 380

The showcase was jammed pack. What I love about the Slammed Society show it is always full of enthusiasts instead of thirsty ass motherfuckers that are at car shows just for models.

    FDIRWINDALE 302

I was making my way to my car to switch lens and caught this guy talking trash about my exhaust. HAHA.

I honestly don’t give a fuck about what people say about my car. I do what I want and having a Junction Produce exhaust is what I am most proud of. To prove the authenticity I use the extension that the exhaust comes with at shows.

    Phat getting that booth space.

    FDI 202

    FDI 203

Had to aim my camera at something else while I was waiting..

    FDI 211

    FDI 215

Kyle’s crazy S13 with hotrod influence. A definite hate it or love it kind of thing. There are some parts that I don’t agree with on this car, but I can respect the time and effort it took for everything done on this car. At the end of the day it’s not my car, so why do I give a fuck? Do what you want and fuck everyone else.

    FDI 218

If you showed me this photo of Big Vinh’s S13 a year ago and told me it would look like this. I would not believe you and tell you that whatever drugs you’re on I want double of it.

Formula Drift: Slammed Society Long Beach 2013

Here is a little coverage of the Formula Drift Long Beach show. I wasn’t able to get on the track because I got to Formula Drift around 3:00P.M. and it was already ending, so I just did some coverage of the Slammed Society and Vendor area. Please excuse some of the photos because they might be a little distorted and blurry. I was planning to use some of the photos for Hella Flush. Their website needs 1450 width while this site uses 610, so the photos with 1450 that are re-sized automatically to 610 look weird. If you click on the photo to the media size, it looks way better. Before hitting up the show, some of us had brunch at Lucille’s Smokehouse BBQ.

  • Formula D 2013 Tech Day

    Formula D 2013 Tech Day

Unfortunately for me I wasn’t able to join everyone in Vegas this past weekend. It seemed like everyone was out in the desert cruising the strip, sipping on drinks, and rolling the dice. Instead I stayed back in Irvine and set my plans to go to the Formula D Tech Day at the Source Interlink Media office.

The day started nice and early for me. The event was scheduled to start at 10AM but I decided to arrive early with my cousin to help the organizers with the parking arrangements. We pulled into the lot at 8AM and there were already people arriving to get their desired parking spots. I’ve always thought that if people are showing up 2 hours early to an event, it’s pretty safe to assume that it’s going to be a pretty good turnout. I definitely wasn’t disappointed.

Amir’s Porsche 911 – As the pictures depict, this car is no joke. Real aero, real chassis enhancements, and real sticky tires. One day I’ll have something like this to beat around the track.

Before barrage of cars started to arrive I was able to spot a nice red DC2 Integra on Rotiforms rocking a HOODRATstuff sticker. It was great to catch up with a supporter especially when I figured everyone would have been in Vegas. Turns out that he had attended the Royal Origin Vegas meet the night before and then headed down to Orange County right after it was over.

As the morning ticked away a lot more cars started to pull in to take over the empty parking lot. GTR’s definitely showed a great presence at the meet.

A couple of Fatlace cars also showed up. One of which was Yogi’s GS that was only put together the night before. Excuse my crappy picture taking skills. It doesn’t do this car any justice.

Spotted this clean G35 sedan on some Rotiform SNA’s. Something like this has always been my dream daily driver.

Awesome sticker on the fender-fucked fender as well ;).

Regular CSL styling and stock sizing fenders wasn’t enough for the owner of this car. He took the “whale-tail” and widebody styling to a whole ‘nother level.

There were a lot of nice EVO’s in attendance as well.

Kenny Chieu’s awesome looking MR-S. Catch this car getting sideways in the Top Drift competition this year.

Another awesome looking MR-S parked right next to it, this one looking more grip inspired.

The popularity of the FR-S chassis has spread like wildfire. A reasonable priced car, well developed chassis and big aftermarket support has appealed to a lot of people  and it showed at this event. Although most of them are either performance inspired or rocking played out Rocket Bunny kits this car gave off a very different style. Slightly wider wheel fitment and a little more drop would make it looking clean and perfect.

The whole point of the event was for this year’s Formula D contestants to have their cars inspected to follow the championship regulations. Time for some drift car porn!

Mike Essa’s new E46 . Brand new build for the 2013 season. I can’t wait to see it complete and competing at the first round in Long Beach.

Taka Aono’s refreshed Corolla. Although some cars arrived incomplete, it was good to see some of the new changes in livery and modifications done to the other cars.

Joon Maeng’s and his team were also there with their competition car for the 2013 season. One thing that I would like to point out is that Joon was there nice and early, and even after the car was finished with the inspection, his team set up a tent and stayed all day answering questions and hanging out with the fans. Now that’s an awesome guy!

Defending champion Daigo Saito’s car. I can’t wait to see this thing go at it again this year.

I noticed a line forming towards the front of the event so I went over to check out what was going on…

    Sandra Wong had arrived.

Throughout the whole day cars were leaving and more cars were pouring in so I decided to do a few more strolls through the aisles.

Then I spotted this. A HAKOSUKA GTR! YES!

These days, it’s not a good car meet without some food trucks. Dos Chinos, Dogzilla, Sexy Burger and Tropical Shave Ice were there to provide food for the hungry.

Whether it be one an apex eating track car or a VIP styled ride, TE37SL’s look good anywhere, anytime, on anything.

Towards the end of the event this R34 arrived. I had spotted him out of the street and wanted to take a snap of it. He cheekily flipped his license plate as I pulled up my camera.

Despite my sunburnt face and getting a “no-front-plate” ticket while leaving the event, it was a pretty good day. I tend to grow tired of car events when I see the same old cars over and over again but the Formula D Tech Day always had something going on to entertain me.

To the idiots who thought it was a 0-40mph competition or who wanted to show off that their piece of shit cars had an exhaust, I’d like to thank you for ruining the meet by gaining the Irvine PD’s attention. Although the police allowed the event to continue, they weren’t shy about pulling people over towards the end of the meet. I’ve been around long enough to know that this will always happen at large gatherings but I had always hoped that people would grow the fuck up. It’s amusing because the cars that are properly built and that are actually impressive tend to leave events in a proper manner, whereas the piece-of-crap jank cars always leave like they have something to prove.

    Formula D Round 7 – Title Fight

Hi everyone! My name is Jay and I’ll be also posting coverage and articles on this website. An introduction will come later, but for now, here’s my coverage of this past weekend’s Formula D Round 7 at Irwindale Speedway – “The Title Fight”.

For some of us, the day started relatively early. Tim came to my house in Irvine from a 5:00am shift at work, the Yoshi’s brothers were up early to wipe down Alex Yoshi’s car, and I…. well I didn’t sleep at all. I was to enter Minh’s IS250 for him because he was busy with work and Alex was going to enter his e36 in the Fatlace Slammed Society Showcase.

Two freeways and one gas station later, we arrived at the speedway at 10:30am and were welcomed by a cluster of showcase entrants lined up front – awaiting their parking spots for the showcase.

  • FD: Slammed Society Irwindale 2011

It was the final round for Formula D at Irwindale Speedway this past weekend, and everyone was pretty excited to see who would win this season.  I had the opportunity to go this year, not to show the car, but just to hangout and do some media type stuff.  Our friend Alex Yoshioka ended up winning first placed for Slammed Society; congratulations to Yoshi for that victory. We love his BMW. Here is video coverage from Slammed Society that was held for this final round. Hope you all enjoy it and look out for more coverage from Formula D.

    Thanks
