Formula Drift Final Fight Irwindale 2015 | Coverage

About a week ago on October 11, 2015, the last Formula Drift of the year took place – the Final Fight in Irwindale. First off, it was probably one of the hottest events I’ve ever attended besides ones in Las Vegas. Ironically, it was about ten to fifteen degrees cooler that day in Las Vegas than Southern California, but despite the scorching temperatures, Formula Drift never failed to be an epic event – even the drivers were not phased with the two hundred-degree temperatures in their drift machines suited up – shit’s pretty fuckin’ gangster.

    Fredric Aasbo always killing’ it!

    Ma boy, Justin Pawlak!

    Zayuumn, Ken! Gotteeeem!

I’ve always loved Wang’s ride doe! Shit’s flames!

    Mad Mike’s MX-5 is straight-up FIRE!

Vaughn Gittin Jr. was performing some dope stunts in between eliminations in his Ecoboost F-150 with underglow and spark effects.

Top 16 got everyone screaming on their toes. Shit was gnarly, especially with the freshly altered course – there were a lot of accidents at the entry to the second bank. Ken Gushi went through some rough patches with a couple of engines, but still managed to “fuck shit up” – in a good way. As the night narrowed down during the top 16, everyone was hella stoked to see Aasbo, Gushi, and Wang place podium – congrats fellas!

    Top 3 Standings:

    1. Fredric Aasbo #151
    2. Kenshiro Gushi #21
    3. Forrest Wang #808

Aside from the main event, there was another life behind the k-rails and the grand stands. Hundreds of fans and enthusiasts roamed the vendor and show venue, making it almost easy to beat the heat! Let’s check out all the fuss at the Offset Kings venue.

    Mizzark’s E60 M5 bebeh!

    Hi Mizzark!

    Edgar’s Z32

    Yogi’s GS430

    Oh hai there Yogi!

Mikey’s Porsche with the ass shot!

Mikey on that hotline bling with Noel.

Noel on that hotline bling with Mikey. Lol.

Arm’s IS300 with his fresh Elixir front bumper. It’s a dream come true!

It was fun shooting on the track with Paulo. This foo comes out from Las Vegas every time to shoot for SouthrnFresh. You’s a trooper ma boy!

I can never get over this Tailored FD. This car actually won Offset Kings a couple years back at Formula Drift Irwindale, and it just never gets old.

    Hi Courtney “WING”field!

Dat Aimgain front end on the FR-S doe!

S14 Kouki with the Vertex Lang!

What do you feel about this Rocket Bunny flared RSX? Pretty insane in the membrane.

After shooting around the the car show, we headed back to home base at the Royal Origin booth to see how the crew is doing.

My zaughters Hayle and Vickie holdin’ it down at the booth.

They wanted Zaddy to be in the photo, so here I am!

Dem Derry Dexx holdin’ down the fort while Aye Ron’s trying to snapchat the one that got away.

Aww Jeff always sells them with his smile. Swapang talaga!

Got to meet this fine gal next door to us at the Chibi Cars booth. She’s the one behind all the cool artwork they had on display! She’s very talented and very bae. Nice meeting you, Stephanie.

    Bruno Mars be like, selfie!

Bruno’s “Aww shit I got got” pose. Lol.

Damn it, Vinh, you’re a little too tall, squat down a little for the picture please?

    Much better!

Looks like the booth was doing good and didn’t catch fire from all the heat that we dropped. So let’s take the crew over back to the Offset Kings venue to take a last look at my favorite part of the show, the Serial Nine guys from Canada.

    This “Seams” about right, YAHNAHMSAYIN?!

    It was LIT, fam!

Formula Drift Final Fight Irwindale 2015 was a jam-packed event just like every other FD there is. This Final Fight was one we will never forget. We also thank everyone that came by and showed us support. Even though this is our first event not showcasing any of our cars, it was still pretty LIT with all the homies. Just stay tuned to some of our builds during the next seasons – big thangs are going to be popping! ‘Til next time, folks!

    Formula Drift 2013 | Irwindale

I hope you enjoyed our last post which was mostly focused on the Slammed Society showcase. I love talking about myself so I’ll be showing you Irwindale through my eyes and what I experienced. The morning of the show was pretty hectic, we had to get enough food for the whole day, drinks, pack up a canopy and a hundred folding chairs into my car. Somehow we were able to fit most of it in my compact IS250. We were suppose to leave Stanton at 9:30 AM, but shit out of luck we ended up leaving at 10:14 AM. I had planned for Heather to drive my car while I did some rolling shots, but she ate a bunch of frosted flakes that morning and couldn’t make it. Somehow I ended up with Thao in my car, but she’s been riding dirty without a licenses for a while so she had to be the photographer. I just set the settings for her and let her fire away.

    FDIRWINDALE 006

Big Vinh aka Wonderful Vinh aka I have LSD and a turboed KA now barely got his car finished for the show.

    FDIRWINDALE 012

John’s DC2 looking fast as fuck with all that aero.

    FDIRWINDALE 015

    Casey’s sick Cressida.

    AW FILMS.

    FDIRWINDALE 005

This year was a bit more of a hassle as mention in the previous post. Irwindale security was really on our asses about not being able to take passengers even if they had a ticket. People were yelling left and right, tensions were high and all because they didn’t want to let loved ones through the gate even if they paid for a ticket already.

    FDIRWINDALE 048

After all the commotion settled down, we got the cars set up and the fun began.

    FDIRWINDALE 067

Avant Garde hired a really cute Japanese model. Meet Yuya Sano.

    FDIRWINDALE 070

A big crowd for the cheap seats.

    FDIRWINDALE 071

Even girls enjoying some drifting or just talking about how cool their nails look in the sun.

    FDIRWINDALE 075

Spotted Matt’s other race car. I wonder if he’ll let me drive this one too.

    FDIRWINDALE 076

     Matt Field’s S14 on some Rotiform TMB’s.

    FDIRWINDALE 082

The coolest car in Formula D! Robbie Nishida’s SC300. I hope he brings it back next year.

The ninja Saito, sad to see he didn’t do as well as last year.

    FDIRWINDALE 095

Can’t get enough of this! Wish it had the rear bumper on but this car is all about functionality.

    FDIRWINDALE 206

Straight into the drifting action! Matt Field leaving a bunch of smoke for his opponent.

    FDIRWINDALE 250

Matt Powers putting in work and not on middled aged Asian women this time.

    FDIRWINDALE 223

Taka Aono’s AE86 was killing it that day!

Spotted this guy doing something behind Jay’s Miata..

    FDIRWINDALE 053

He was just a big roadster fan and wanted a photo with Jay’s Miata.

    FDIRWINDALE 380

The showcase was jammed pack. What I love about the Slammed Society show it is always full of enthusiasts instead of thirsty ass motherfuckers that are at car shows just for models.

Fatlace getting the awards and prizes ready.

    FDIRWINDALE 351

     Max looking pretty.

    FDIRWINDALE 350

    FDIRWINDALE 302

I was making my way to my car to switch lens and caught this guy talking trash about my exhaust. HAHA.

I honestly don’t give a fuck about what people say about my car. I do what I want and having a Junction Produce exhaust is what I am most proud of. To prove the authenticity I use the extension that the exhaust comes with at shows.

    FDIRWINDALE 324

    FDI 195

    Phat getting that booth space.

    FDI 215

Kyle’s crazy S13 with hotrod influence. A definite hate it or love it kind of thing. There are some parts that I don’t agree with on this car, but I can respect the time and effort it took for everything done on this car. At the end of the day it’s not my car, so why do I give a fuck? Do what you want and fuck everyone else.

    FDI 218

If you showed me this photo of Big Vinh’s S13 a year ago and told me it would look like this. I would not believe you and tell you that whatever drugs you’re on I want double of it.

  • Slammed Society Irwindale

    Slammed Society Irwindale

So this past weekend Royal Origin decided to come out in full force for the Slammed Society Irwindale show. We rolled up 20 plus cars deep and like usual we all got there kind of late, but everything ended up working out perfectly because Fatlace gave us a little corner on the drag strip to set up all our cars. The only problem I had with roll in was that no one told us we weren’t allowed to have a passenger roll in with us. So all the passengers (girlfriends) were told to wait outside of the gates until 2 P.M. when the gates would open to the public. Luckily Bonnie, Regina, and Carol dressed up like import models that day and we were able to sneak them in through Dsport as import models and Ryo from Lowballers Japan as their photographer! Besides that little problem, SS Irwindale would have to be one of the funnest shows I’ve been to in a while. Vinh, Minh, and I were able to go down to the pits and get right up close and personal with the drift cars, and thanks to Young everyone was turned up to the fullest that day. I can’t wait for Formula D to start next year I’m definitely getting a media pass for every show!

Enough of me talking and onto the cars. This past show brought out the best of the best fitment, from meaty fitment all the way down to stretch tire fitment. It also brought out different build styles from full blown track cars to cars that are literally millimeters off the ground. I wasn’t able to take many pictures of the cars because coincidentally the perfect time to take pictures was also the perfect time for the public to check out the showcase.

Mark’s crazy fitted 350z from LowNslow Crew with those beautiful SSR MS1’s

    FDIRWINDALE 289

Ryan came all the way out from Santa Barbara, wearing some volk re30’s on his newly acquired evo.

    FDIRWINDALE 397

Jason’s fitment on his IS300 is jaw dropping and boner popping!

    FDIRWINDALE 418

The king of cracking oil pans, Jimmy muthafuckin Lieu, He has cracked 6 oil pans with in the span of 6 months. He decided to go full retard for the show and tuck rim all the way around. Sadly he cracked his pan for the 7th time on the way home from the show, but everything worked out okay, he got a tow from our good friend Kevin and slapped on his new pan the following day.

    FDIRWINDALE 393

Kevin’s S2000, it was late in the day and there wasn’t enough light to catch his wheels. Sorry Kevin

I believe I’ve seen this civic around citrus college. I love the white on black theme you have going on.

This EG hatch was insane. One of a kind rebarrled regamasters and it was converted to right hand drive!

Sean’s G35 had people scratching there head’s and wondering how he drives this thing. The fitment on this car is ridiculously insane!

    FDIRWINDALE 304

Nick and Neel came out to party that day too!

    FDIRWINDALE 332FDIRWINDALE 328

AWWWWWWFILMS brought out his spec B legacy. Love his white on white combo, keep an eye out for his car when he rocks the rotiform wrw’s.

    FDIRWINDALE 064

Vinh aka “big vinh” was afraid he wasn’t going to be able to show because he didn’t have enough time to finish his turbo setup. Luckily with the help of friends he was able to get it running properly the night before.

    FDIRWINDALE 066

Kyle brought out his newly finished BN sport S13. It was so hard for me to snap a picture of this car due to people swarming around it! Congratulations on winning the speedhunter award and I can’t wait for the feature to drop.

“JPN SPEC” was what the license plate said on this car. Without a doubt this car definitely fits in with that category. Right hand drive converted with the multicolor race scheme straight out of Japan.

Simple and clean EF civic, just the way I like it!

My good friend JC, your car is looking boss bro! Especially with the finish of your new wheels! Thank you again for letting me buy your front lip at 3 AM in the morning!

    Formula D Round 7 – Title Fight

Hi everyone! My name is Jay and I’ll be also posting coverage and articles on this website. An introduction will come later, but for now, here’s my coverage of this past weekend’s Formula D Round 7 at Irwindale Speedway – “The Title Fight”.

For some of us, the day started relatively early. Tim came to my house in Irvine from a 5:00am shift at work, the Yoshi’s brothers were up early to wipe down Alex Yoshi’s car, and I…. well I didn’t sleep at all. I was to enter Minh’s IS250 for him because he was busy with work and Alex was going to enter his e36 in the Fatlace Slammed Society Showcase.

Two freeways and one gas station later, we arrived at the speedway at 10:30am and were welcomed by a cluster of showcase entrants lined up front – awaiting their parking spots for the showcase.
